As discussed earlier in the course, the classified section is basically everything else that's not classified as ROP advertising. It brings in a huge amount of revenue and is one of the best read sections in the newspaper.

The advantage of the classified section is that many people in this part of the paper are already in the market for certain products or services advertised there and, best case, are actively searching the listings.

The big categories in most classified sections are automotive, real estate, and recruitment (help wanted). The Internet has had an affect on these categories, but, still, newspaper classified sections are a highly effective place to sell these and other goods and services.

Classifieds typically have narrower columns and can be more expensive than ROP, so there's usually a separate rate structure for that department.
