We've spent a few years building a stand-alone, automated lead generation and ad sales system supercharged with our Response Oriented Selling techniques. (We actually teach the approach at Hofstra University's Zarb School of Business.) The result is an "ad sales generator" that runs in the background to help generate leads and turn them into sales.

 

We've long suspected that the approach we teach to sell advertising--helping ad reps eliminate local business' incorrect theories about response and replacing them with ones the prospect believes in--is precisely the "fuel" needed to make a winning automated sales system in the newspaper industry.

 

Here's how it works:

 

  1. Add a snippet of code and some content we provide in the "Advertise With Us" area of your Web site.
  2. Place a special house ad in your print and online publications.
  3.  We take it from there.
  4. Our "ad sales machine" identifies which of your readers/visitors are leads and we do all the work nurturing them along until they show signs they're ready to advertise.
  5. We text and/or email the ad director (or the appropriate salesperson) with the now highly-qualified lead's contact information as well as the buying behaviors they're showing.

 

Once set up, leads are generated and nurtured automatically. It's like having an additional ad rep who's constantly prospecting, without the cost.

 

To participate in the pilot, here's what we're looking for:

  • A newspaper with a significant circulation (approximately 40,000+ print for a weekly or 10,000+ circulation daily).
  • A strong online audience.
  • A healthy e-mail list (preferred).
  • A willingness to follow up on the qualified leads provided and report the revenue.
  • A willingness to be patient and communicative as we optimize the system to your market.
  • A year-long commitment.
  • A willingness to act as a testimonial and referral when the program begins driving revenue.
